Women who might become pregnant and who must take methotrexate should be careful to use effective birth control during their treat­ment," warned Drs. Gilbert I. Simon and Harold M. Silverman in “The Pill Book.” "Methotrexate can also affect sperm. Men should not attempt to father a child during methotrexate treatment or for three months after treatment has been completed to avoid possible birth defects," they added.
